Womachka, Esther L.
Esther L. Womachka, 97, of Maquoketa, most recently residing at Silvercrest of Anamosa, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at First Baptist Church in Maquoketa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Esther was born June 13, 1913, in Anamosa, to Truman and Nina (Beardsley) Peet. She was a graduate of Strawberry Point High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. On Oct. 27, 1937, she married Edwin Womachka, and they resided in Maquoketa. Edwin died Dec. 6, 1971.
Esther is survived by her two daughters, JuNean (Darrell) Tracy of Wyoming and Dee Ann (Larry) Scheib of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Esther's name.
The family wishes to thank Home Instead of Maquoketa, Silvercrest of Anamosa, and St. Luke's Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Esther for the last years of her life.
