Louis Junior Williamson, 91, of Marion, formerly of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City, with Al Christopherson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Linn Manor Care Center, Iowa City Senior Center or the charity of your choice.
Louis was born on Sept. 19, 1924, in Masonville, Iowa, the son of Louis and Eloide Williamson (Gill). Immediately following his high school graduation, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He married Ermadel Eckheart on Sept. 28, 1947, in West Union, Iowa. She passed away July 13, 2005.
Louis had been employed at Sheller Globe (tool & die) in Iowa City. Following his retirement in 1986, he volunteered at the Iowa City Senior Center. He was also very active in the Voices of Experience Chorus and the Old Capitol Barber Shop Choir. Louis attended the Gospel Hall in Marion.
He is survived by his children, daughter, Iris Duff (Bob) of Marion; and son, Keith Williamson (Michele) of Milan, Ill.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Rotha Pratt.
