Priest, John T.
John T. Priest, 89, of Clinton, formerly of Manchester, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton. Funeral services will be noon Friday, Aug. 2, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester, by the Rev. Dennis Glew. Visitation will be before the services from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Burial, with military honors, will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
John was born in Manchester on May 27, 1924, the son of Timothy and Ruby (Durling) Priest. Following graduation in 1943 from Manchester High School, John served two tours in the United States Army, during World War II and the Korean War.
John was united in marriage on June 25, 1948, to Wilma Schadey in Manchester. John worked for Clinton Corn, later known as ADM, for many years, retiring in 1989.
John was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Priest of Clinton; one son, Jay (Jean) Priest of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Verna (Doug) Kuehl of Marion; two grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Priest and Alisa Priest; a stepgranddaughter, Amy (Shane Thomas) Kuehl; five great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Camden, Johnathan, Gracelyn and Karson; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Latyse, Jamika, Jeremy and Olivia.
John was preceded in death by his parents; one stepgranddaughter, Angie; five sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be directed to the Clinton United Methodist Church or Clinton Emergency Responders.
