Alan H. Pond, 79, of Swisher, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private family burial: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher.
Alan was born February 3, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Bernice Pond. Alan was married for 55 wonderful years to Celia Pond. To this union four children were born, Mark "Bubba" (Kim) Pond of Watauga, Texas, Mary (Mike) Schutte of Janesville, Wis., Mike Pond of Swisher and Joe (Kelly) Pond of Swisher. Alan was blessed with 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Alan cherished family, friends, the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending winters in Texas and Mesa, Ariz., with Celia. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings, camping and fishing in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Alan was an original true Ford enthusiast. He was employed at ADM Corn Sweeteners for 33 and a half years.
Alan's family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Samuel Wood and all at Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and UnityPoint Hospice, especially Suzanne and Angie.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be directed to UnityPoint Hospice in Alan's name.
