Resident grateful for city crew, police

I wish to thank a few city workers who do such a good job.
First, our basement got wet June 29 from all the rain that turned our street into a raging river.
The Cedar Rapids Waste Department hauled all our soaked belongings away. All we had to do was call, give our address and they came on garbage day and it was gone.
A few things sat out awhile because of all the damage citywide, but it sure beat the $15 dump charge per trip or getting a big container, which on a fixed income would be hard to do.
Second, our police department is great.
When we called due to the water washing out of manholes they came and checked it right away.
Any other time we have to call for a disturbance in the neighborhood they come, as well.
I feel these workers get no thanks or negative things are said that I just wanted to tell them that some of us appreciate their work.
Thanks again city workers and police.
