Betty Lois Larison, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospice in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James Larison of Cedar Rapids; children, Dennis (Julie) Larison of Elizabethtown, Pa., John (Shawnna) Larison of Marion, Karen Larison of West Branch, Douglas Larison of Cedar Rapids and Kimberly Larison of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, June (Arza) Boswell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dee Lee Davidson.
Betty was born Feb. 8, 1928, the daughter of Wendell and Flavia (Hopson) Davidson, in Taylor County, Iowa. Starting at the young age of 17, Betty spent two years as a schoolteacher in a one-room school house. On Aug. 14, 1946, she was married to James Larison. Together, James and Betty farmed for 13 years in southwest Iowa before moving to Cedar Rapids. Betty worked for Century 21 from 1979 to 1983. She also was a sales representative for Avon.
Betty loved to sew, play cards and write letters. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
