Herzmann, Richard Lee
Richard Lee Herzmann, 72, of rural Luana, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. Following eight years of peritoneal dialysis, he died of polycystic kidney disease.
Richard Lee Herzmann, son of Erwin and Erma (Kerr) Herzmann, was born on a farm near Arlington, Iowa, on Sept. 17, 1938. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington. Following the death of his parents, he lived in the home of his sister, Donna Weger. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. He was married to Barbara Fritz on April 29, 1972. They were blessed with two sons, Daryl (Liz) Herzmann of Ames, and Matthew (Liz) Herzmann of Mayville, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Herzmann; and sisters, Donna Weger and Winnifred Overmann.
He is survived by a sister, Hazel (Jim) McClintock; brother, Dean (Candy) Herzmann; brother-in-law, Cal Weger; goddaughters, Christi Rink and Taryn Busches; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, with the Rev. Al Hock officiating. Visitation: from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church and one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Interment: Norway Lutheran Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, is handling arrangements.
