Jeff E. Harvey, 44, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Amy; a daughter, Makaylee Harvey of Cedar Rapids; a son, Simeon Harvey of Bonne Terre, Mo.; his mother, Louise Harvey Edwards of Nixa, Mo.; his parents-in-law, Pam and Marty Hepker of Marion; his two brothers-in-law, Andy (Jill) Hepker of Mount Vernon and Charles (Jerilee Ashman) Hepker of Cedar Rapids; his daughter's mother, Melissa Strellner of Cedar Rapids; his son's mother, Joann Bias of Bonne Terre, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Issa Harvey.
Jeff was born July 6, 1972, in Iowa City, the son of Louise Harvey Edwards. He graduated in 1990 from Madison High School in Madison, Mo., and the University of Missouri in 1995 with a B.A. in music appreciation. He married Amy Hepker on Oct. 10, 2015, in Marion.
Jeff loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool and singing karaoke. Jeff was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeye football team, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
His favorite Bible verse was 1st Corinthians 13 4:7: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
