Mallicoat, Lee R.
Lee R. Mallicoat, 92, of Lisbon, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at the Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Rev. Mike Williams will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Internment will be at the Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at .
Surviving is his wife, Elaine; daughter, Florence Alderdyce of Anamosa; son, Gary Mallicoat of Chicago; a stepson, Earl Albers of Fort Madison; three stepdaughters, Teresa Fuhrmister of Lone Tree, Ruthie Manuel of Rohobeth, Delaware and Kathy (Dale) Happel of Lisbon; three grandchildren, Jon (Kandi) Alderdyce of Anamosa, Jeff (Nancy) Alderdyce of Morley, and Kathy (Rick) Kirk of Anamosa; great-grandchildren, Averi, Kate, Jentri, Doune, Starr, Sean, Jordan, Jared and Alex; and stepgrandchildren, Ryan, Lindsey, Levi, Brett, Austin and Kayla. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Junior; and a grandson, Donald Doune Alderdyce.
Lee Roy Mallicoat was born November 19, 1918 in Wyoming, Iowa. He was the son of Russell and Hazel Smith Mallicoat. Lee was a 1936 graduate of Wyoming High School. He married Phyllis Katherine Barker on February 9, 1936. Lee enlisted in the United States Navy on February 22, 1944 and was stationed at Aleutian Islands, Dutch Harbor, Alaska for the duration of his service to his country. He was discharged December 24, 1945 following the end of World War II. On June 27, 1998 Lee and Elaine Nielsen were united in marriage at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa.
Lee owned four trucks of his own that he leased to Carstensen Freight Lines until he retired from driving when he then became Maintenance Supervisor. Lee enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the VFW, Moose Club and Ducks Unlimited. In 1950 he was awarded Driver of the Year by the Iowa Motor Truck Association.
