JEFF "BODINE" SHANK
North Liberty
Jeff "Bodine" Shank, 67, of North Liberty, reached the end of his journey on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Jeff received the amazing gift of a double lung transplant in 2012 and lived his life to the fullest.
Jeff was born March 31, 1948, to Robert and Rosemary Shank in Chicago. He was the oldest of six siblings, Kim, Mark, Luanne, Scott, Tommy and Tammy. Jeff graduated from University High School in Iowa City, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Jeff worked at the VA Health Care System for over 25 years, but if you asked him he could tell you to the minute exactly how long he had worked there.
Jeff is survived by his children, Amy (Mike) Horns of Strawberry Point, Morgan (Nick) Davies of North Liberty and son, Cody Shank of Iowa City; as well as his grandchildren, Jaime, Jordan (fiance, Craig Johnson), Addison and Isley, who were his greatest joy.
Please join us for a celebration of Jeff's life from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Iowa City American Legion. Cremation services were provided by Gay & Ciha Funeral Service.
Online condolences can be sent to his family at www.gayandciha.com.
