Charles Shaw
CHARLES B. (CHUCK) SHAW
Cedar Rapids
Charles B. (Chuck) Shaw, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 26.
Born in 1948, Chuck lived most of his life in Texas and Hawaii before moving to Iowa in 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Capper, whom he married in 1979.
In 1968 to 1970, Chuck honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. As a result of injuries sustained during his service, Chuck faced many health issues during his life, yet the discipline, courage, strength and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him.
It was simple things in life that he never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful he was. Above all, Chuck was absolutely devoted to his wife. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love and the beauty and peace that would await him after passing.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Community Church, 327 35th St. NE, Cedar Rapids.
A memorial fund has been established in Charles' name, donations can be made to his family or be given to his wife, Tammy Shaw.
