Aug. 13, 2015 11:37 pm
DES MOINES - The second wave of Iowa supporters for presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush includes Republicans from river to river.
Bush's campaign announced the new round of supporters to coincide with Bush's return to Iowa. He appeared Thursday in Davenport and Ankeny and will be at the Iowa State Fair Friday.
Among his newly announced supporters: GOP elected officials, party leaders and activists from Woodbury County on the state's western border to Scott County on its eastern edge, and from its most populous counties in central Iowa.
'I am honored to lead Gov. Bush's efforts in Scott County,” said Linda Miller, who represents eastern Scott County, including Bettendorf, in the Iowa Legislature. 'Jeb is the kind of hopeful, optimistic leader who will bring common sense to a broken Washington, D.C.”
Bush said in a statement: 'I am honored to have the support of some of Iowa's finest leaders who have committed to leading my campaign efforts in their counties. I look forward to working alongside this team as we bring our message of opportunity and earned success to all Iowans.”
Previously announced Bush supporters in Iowa include Joni Scotter, a Republican activist from Cedar Rapids.
Supporters in the second wave include Barbara Smeltzer of Dubuque, Dubuque County chair; Silvia Quezada of University Heights, Johnson County chair; Megan Hippensteel of Cedar Rapids, Linn County co-chair; Charles Dunham of Montezuma, Poweshiek County chair; and Adam Mangold of Washington, Washington County chair.
