Lee D. Freeseman, 77,
of Coralville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Windmill Manor. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, University of Iowa Foundation: Alzheimer's research, or Windmill Manor.
Lee was born March 22, 1938, in Butler County, Iowa, on the family Century Farm, the son of Dietrick "Dick" and Lena (Johnson) Freeseman. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956 and from Gates Business College in Waterloo. Lee was united in marriage to Genevieve Iblings on Sept. 1, 1961, in Grundy Center. He was in the Iowa National Guard from 1956-64. Lee was the Coralville manager and second vice president for 20 years at Iowa State Bank, retiring in 1996. He spent 36 years in banking between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Lee was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of Coralville Planning and Zoning for 15 years and was instrumental in starting the Coralville Transit System. Lee was a member of Coralville Optimists and started the Williamsburg chapter. He was a member of the Jaycees of Marion before moving to Iowa City where he served as the state treasurer.
Lee enjoyed being outdoors; activities such as boating and skiing always were a hit. He thoroughly enjoyed biking, he completed 10 different RAGBRAIs after he turned 60. Lee and Gen enjoyed taking their motor home to Arizona and Alaska. They also enjoyed summers at their cabin in Clear Lake with family and friends. Lee was an avid Hawkeye fan and a season ticket holder for many UI sports. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's different sporting events as they grew up. Lee was an ambassador at the Iowa Hall of Fame.
Lee is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two children, Linda (Jeff) Prybil of Iowa City and Steven Freeseman of Monticello, Ill.; three grandchildren, Molly Prybil (Kyle Nicholson), Adam Prybil and Benton Freeseman; sister, Darlene (Paul) Bruns of Parkersburg; and many extended family and friends.
