Unash, Marcella Cecelia
Marcella Cecilia Unash, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at St. Luke's Living Center East.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with the Rev. W. Bramwell Harnish officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Solon. Visitation will be one hour before services Wednesday at the chapel.
Survivors include her sons, Donald (Nancy) Unash of Cedar Rapids, and Robert (Jane) Unash of Bemidji, Minn.; three grandchildren, Scott (Kristi) Unash, Dana Pfab (Scotty Welsh) and Steve (Teresa) Unash; four great-grandsons, Ryan, Aaron, Jason and Josh; and two stepgrandchildren, Justin and Jeff.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orval, who died Feb. 14, 2002; and her brothers, John Beranek and Louis Beranek.
Marcella was born Oct. 22, 1917, the daughter of John and Stella (Stelhik) Beranek in Morse in rural Johnson County. On June 18, 1933, she married Orval Unash. She and Orval farmed for many years in the Solon, Mount Vernon and Robins area.Marcella enjoyed gardening, dancing, farming and the time spent with her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Living Center East for their loving care of Marcella.
