Kelly, Judith Ann
Judith Ann Kelly, 70, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, due to a long illness. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, by the Rev. David Beckman. A memorial in celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Judy is survived by her four children, Linda (Philip) Alemania of Davis, Calif., Michael Hute of Mesa, Ariz., Mary (Ivan) Martinez of Mesa, Ariz., and Matthew Hute of Robins; her sister, Carol (Paul) Whitters of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leone Callahan; her husband, Terry Kelly; daughter-in law, Dixie Hute; niece, Amy Whitters; and great-nephew, Drake Whitters.
Judy attended school at Immaculate Conception, Regis High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from Mount Mercy College in 1975. She taught early education in the Cedar Rapids School District for 25 years. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and PEO.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She lived her life with a deep faith and conviction. She was very generous and always thought of others before herself. Judy had a wonderful sense of humor and she enjoyed spending time with her many family and friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music and she loved her bunny collection.
Donations in Judy's name may be made to Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
