Dakota Kelly, 11, of Cedar Rapids, passed Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Marion Christian Church, Marion, by the Rev. Peter Mitchell. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home and after noon Tuesday at the church.
Dakota is survived by his parents, Dale and Donna; brother, William Kelly of Cedar Rapids; sister, Amber (Jon) Dinnel of Kalona; brother, Michael Stoddard of Cedar Rapids; adoptive sisters, Anna Walker of Cedar Rapids and Liz (Levi) Ritter of Wamego, Kan.; grandma, Vicki Bloxham; adoptive grandma, JoMarie Butz; and great-grandma, Kay Thompson, all of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles, Danny and Rebecca Murray, Daniel Barnes, Shannon Kelsey and Shelby Deford; and best friend, Jonathan Murray, all of Cedar Rapids; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Dakota was born June 2, 2003, in Cedar Rapids. He was in the sixth grade at McKinley Middle School.
Dakota was a very happy boy who loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, making rubber band bracelets, drawing, riding his bike with his brother, riding on his dad's motorcycle and having family get-togethers at his aunt, Terri Strait's house.
Dakota's family will always remember him for his bright smile that could cheer up anyone.
The family would like to thank Vicki Bloxham for all of her help during this difficult time.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Collins Community Credit Union in memory of Dakota Kelly.
