Reed, Nettie
Nettie Reed, 95, of Cedar Rapids, was ushered into the Kingdom of God on Monday, May 31, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by Pastor Dale Holloway. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Survivors include children, Charlotte Null of Marion, Phyllis (Robert) Stevens of Cedar Rapids and Warren Reed of Troy Mills; a sister, Bertha Schleicher of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jeffery, Scott, Rodney, Larry, Tracey, Kevin, Robin, Ranie and Rachel; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; four brothers and a sister.
Nettie was born April 24, 1915, in Princeton. She married Russell Lee Reed in Chicago on June 26, 1937. He died in 1987. She was employed by the Cedar Rapids school system for over 27 years. She was a woman of compassion, love and friendship to all who knew her. Some knew her as the Energizer Bunny that kept going and going. She was a member of Living Hope Wesleyan Church. The things she loved to do in life were fishing, knitting, machine embroidery, and gardening. She was always ready to go with family and friends.
