Charles E. "Chuck" Schmidt, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Rick Gail will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; his two sons, C.J. (Megan) of Chicago and Creighton (Ashley) of North Liberty; a daughter, Carrie (Aaron) Stevens of Mason City; his mother, Mary of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Cindy (Brian) Beatty of Atkins, Cherri (Bert) Thibodeaux and Connie Schmidt all of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren, Charlie, Adeline and Ezekiel.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Christopher.
Chuck was born Sept. 27, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Mary Schmidt. He married Janet G. Johnson on Jan. 20, 1984, in Cedar Rapids.
Chuck was in management at Stouffers Hotel, currently the DoubleTree, for over 25 years and was a faithful member of First Assembly of God. Chuck enjoyed swimming, skiing, his Hawkeye jeep and traveling with his family, especially to Colorado, where they would enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Chuck was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
