Altes, Connie
Connie Altes, 65, of Marion, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extensive fight against cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Roy and the Rev. Janice Langwig. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Private Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Roger; children, Michael (Cindy) Altes of Midland, Mich., and Melissa (Chris) Stevens of Marion; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Kathryn Altes; a sister, Maureen Wilson of Chicago; and her collie, Noelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Connie was born Feb. 13, 1945, the daughter of Thomas and Kathryn (Fell) Wilson, in Chicago. In 1962, she graduated from Crystal Lake High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., and from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, in 1986. On June 4, 1966, Connie was united in marriage to Roger Altes in Mingo. Connie worked as an administrative assistant at the Marion Independent School District and also volunteered there for 30 years. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, reading and walking.
