Elaine Lynn Barr, 58, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017,
at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 1, at First
United Methodist Church, Marion. Funeral services:
1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the church conducted by Pastor Mike Morgan. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Gary Barr; four children, Jayme (Chris) Salkowski, Taylor (Chris) Merritt, Dylan Barr and Logan Barr; three grandchildren, Bailey, Lydia and Isabelle; brother, Rick (Ann) Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Veronica (Robert) Loggins and Anita (Charles) Tinsley; and several nieces and nephews, including, Erick Johnson and Nathan (Carissa) Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Danial Lee Richard Barr.
Elaine was born March 18, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Belva (Lenz) Johnson. She graduated from Marion High School in 1977. Elaine attended Hamilton Business College and Kirkwood Community College. On Sept. 22, 1990, she was united in marriage to Gary Ronald Barr at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Elaine worked at Duane Arnold Energy Center and Yellow Book and was an assistant manager at Yankee Candle Co. in Lindale Mall.
Elaine was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed at a later date in Elaine's memory.
The Elaine Barr memorial benefit will be held from
2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at First United Methodist Church, Marion.
