Woodford, Robert 'Woody'
Robert “Woody” Woodford, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Peoples Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Tom Capo. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; three children, Yale (Sandy) Woodford of Texas City, Texas, Ann Peek of Alvarado, Texas, and Scott (Emarie) Woodford of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Robert J. (Phea) Peek of Lewisville, Texas, Jane (Brock) Ostrander of Fort Worth, Texas, Brett “Woody” Woodford, stationed at Whidbey Island, Wash., Naval Air Station and Tracy M. Woodford of Las Vegas; one great-grandson, Bryan P. Peek; and three sisters, Beverly Lillie, Nola (Merrill) Johnson and Judy (Bill) Cadman.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Don Henderson and Joe Woodford.
Robert was born April 27, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Elmer and Naomi (Conner) Woodford. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Robert attended the School of Modern Photography in New York City. On April 28, 1945, Robert was united in marriage to Phyllis Shakespeare. Robert worked as a photographer for Rockwell Collins. He and Phyllis enjoyed traveling together during their retirement.
