Johnson, Erma Deane

Erma Deane Johnson, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. Private family graveside services will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Donald (Sandra) Johnson, Drs. John (Mickie) Johnson, Harry (Vicki Ann) Johnson, Tom (Janet) Johnson, Janie (Robert) Thomson, Patricia Ormiston and Barbara Losey; and grandchildren, Lonnie (Kari) Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Danielle (Michael) Gearhart, James (Amy) Johnson, Joshua (Jodi) Johnson, Matthew (Tassy) Johnson, Michael (Heather) Johnson, Amanda D'Amico, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Johnson, Laura Johnson, Michelle Olivier, Andrea Ormiston, Eric Ormiston, Jeffrey Losey and Jesse Losey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. (Dick) Johnson; and daughter, Nancy Johnson.

Erma was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Oxford, Ala. She was married to R.L. (Dick) Johnson on Oct. 16, 1943, in San Francisco. Erma devoted her adult life to raising her seven children, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was active in her children's school and church activities. She was a member of the Central Park Presbyterian Church.
