Johnson, Virgil C.
Virgil C. Johnson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Dec. 19, 2012, in his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Yvonne (Martin) Hale, New Jersey, and Susan (Joseph) Prull, Cedar Rapids; son, Randall (Barbara) Johnson, Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Melanie (Robert) Zywicki, Andrew Hale, Corey (Breanna) Prull, Chad (Katie) Prull, Marissa Prull, Michael (Amanda) Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; one stepgrandchild, Jamie (Corissa) Prull; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, Robert Zywicki and Avery Prull.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ardis; and brother, Alan.
Virgil was born June 10, 1928, in Atkins, Iowa, to Art and Elsie Johnson, and was married to Mary T. Balik on May 9, 1953, in Kahoka, Mo.
He enjoyed bowling leagues, golf, and trips to visit family. Virgil worked at Iowa Manufacturing and the Shuttleworth Law Firm.
Virgil will be missed by many.
