Richard (Dick) A. Taylor, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
Born March 2, 1939, to Alan and Nellie (Yates) Taylor in Rock Island, Ill., he grew up in Springville, Iowa, later moving to Cedar Rapids where he met and married Judy Krapfl. They later divorced.
He worked at Midland Forge for many years, then decided to go truck driving. He drove for Matson Trucking and then Max Co. until his retirement.
He is survived by his three children, Richard (Connie) and Michael (Julie) of Cedar Rapids and Keitha (Billie) Johnson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five siblings, Rosalie (Bill) Cole, Cedar Rapids, Roberta Bowen, Conroy, Rena (Pat) Murphy, Shueyville, Rebecca Yirkovsky, Marion, and Roxy (Paul) Appleby, Cedar Rapids; and special friend Gloria Hines, Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Manternach; his parents; a sister, Raelene Wilcox; a brother, Raymond; and friend, Dutch.
He belonged to the Hooksetter Fishing Club and the Moose Club for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to the casinos and watching his favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes. He also was a big NASCAR fan with Richard Petty and Jeff Gordon being his favorites.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a potluck-style dinner for Dick on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Oak Village, 101 S. 11th St., Marion, Iowa.
