Lauretta M. Schultz, 89, of Davenport, formerly of Marion, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Genesis East, Davenport. Due to the current health crisis, a memorial service will take place in 2021 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elgin, Iowa. Private burial will be in Elgin Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family who will be making donations in her honor. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lauretta Mae Gilson was born on May 6, 1931, in West Union, Iowa, a daughter of Donald J. and Agnes (Olson) Gilson. She was united in marriage to Willis Louis Schulz on Aug. 23, 1953, at Postville Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2007, after 53 years of marriage and memories.
Lauretta had a great passion for music. She enjoyed teaching piano and organ lessons and was the head organist at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion for many years. She played piano up until just
a few years ago when her eye sight started to strain.
Lauretta is survived by her children, Julie (David) Cleveland, Carbondale, Colo., Craig (Dawn) Schultz,
Elk Grove, Calif., and Brad (Sheri) Schultz, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Spencer (Colleen) Cleveland, Marshall (Michaela) Cleveland, Kira Schultz, Kerisha (Joshua) Kellogg, Karissa Schultz, Katelynn (Paul) Schultz and Bricelyn Schultz; great-grandchildren, Karielle and Uriah; brothers, Durwin Gilson, West Union, Iowa,
and Curt (Dorothy) Gilson, Elgin, Iowa; and many
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
