It's Fourth of July weekend in Cedar Rapids, which means the annual Freedom Festival kicks into high gear. Here is a schedule detailing activities taking place Friday through Monday, July 1-4. Freedom Festival buttons are available for $5 at each event. Children age 8 and younger do not need a button.
Friday through Sunday, July 1-3
What: Jump for Freedom — Dock Dogs
Where: National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, 1400 Inspiration Place SW
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday
Cost: Free with Freedom Festival button
Details: Dock Dogs is a national series of dog jumping competitions with aquatic events, including big air, extreme vertical and speed retrieval.
Friday, July 1
What: Movie Night at the Ballpark
Where: Veterans Memorial Stadium, 950 Rockford Road SW
When: 7 p.m. start, gates open at 6 p.m.
Cost: Free with Freedom Festival button
Details: Bring a blanket to sit on the field and watch 'The Sandlot.' No lawn chairs are allowed on the field. You can't bring in food or drink, but concessions are available.
Saturday, July 2
What: IMAGINATION! Square
Where: NewBo Market Lawn, 1300 Third St. SE
When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost: Free with Freedom Festival button
Details: Family event, including interactive educational booths, face painting, balloon art, trackless train and Lego Extravaganza.

What: Freedom Festival Parade
Where: Czech Village/NewBo
When: 10 a.m.
Cost: Free
Details: The parade runs from 16th Avenue SW to Third Street SE to Ninth Avenue SE.

What: Freedom Bop
Where: NewBo City Market, 1300 Third St. SE
When: 5-9 p.m.
Cost: Free with Freedom Festival Button
Details: Bring lawn chairs and blankets to watch or dance to rock 'n' roll music by The Legends and Do's and Don'ts.

What: Hy-Vee Taste of Freedom
Where: NewBo City Market, 1300 Third St. SE
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cost: $2 for one slider, $5 for three sliders, $10 for six sliders, $15 for nine sliders
Details: Sample and vote for your favorite Hy-Vee slider as part of IMAGINATION! Square.
Sunday, July 3
What: Music at the Museum
Where: National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library Amphitheater, 1400 Inspiration Place SW
When: 6-9 p.m.
Cost: Free with Freedom Festival Button
Details: Listen to Bob Dorr and the Blue Band in your lawn chair. No coolers are allowed, but picnics are welcome. On-site vending from Hy-Vee.
Monday, July 4
What: Pancake Breakfast
Where: Veterans Memorial Building, 50 Second Avenue Bridge
When: 8-11 a.m.
Cost: $6 adults, $3 children; $1 off with button
Details: Parking available in Mays Avenue Parkade, but cars must be removed by noon.

What: Freedom Festival Car Show
Where: Third Avenue Bridge
When: 8 a.m. to noon
Cost: $15 registration fee for cars; free admission with Freedom Festival button

What: Freedom Festival Concert
Where: McGrath Amphitheatre, 475 First Street SW
When: 5-9:45 p.m.; gates open at 4 p.m.
Pricing: Free with Freedom Festival button
Details: Watch The Roosevelts and The Johnny Holm Band perform before the fireworks show. Outside food is allowed on the Second Avenue and Third Avenue bridges with soft-sided coolers only, but no outside food is allowed in the Amphitheatre. Blankets and chairs are allowed in both spaces of the venue.

What: Fireworks show
Where: Lit from First Avenue Bridge
When: 9:45 p.m.
Cost: Free admission to view on Second Avenue and Third Avenue bridges with Freedom Festival button
Details: A 30-minute fireworks show choreographed to music. Hear the music on FM 98.1 KHAK and FM 104.5 KDAT. Parking is available in various locations downtown.
