Richard "Dick" Allen Lewis, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Whittier Cemetery. Visitation will be from
4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Brosh Chapel.
Richard was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harry and Rose (Karlik) Lewis. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, Class of 1960. Dick was united in marriage to Arlene Bedell on Sept. 20, 1964, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a pressman for over 40 years at Russell's Guides, and later worked at Speed Print until retiring in 2007.
Dick enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, ice speed skating, going to garage sales and collecting cookbooks. He was a skilled carpenter and had a great mind for mechanical projects. The time spent with his family was very important to him, including the grandkids. Dick was a member of the Cedar Rapids Water Ski Club, Hawkeye Speed Skating Club and served as past president of Graphics Communication Union.
Dick is survived by his wife, Arlene; his children, Bill (Jen) Lewis of Onslow, Bob (Deanna) Lewis of Atkins and Deb (Warren) Bolsinger of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Nicole (Zach) Weisner, Brandon Lewis and Rylee Bolsinger; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Willa Weisner; a sister, Sandra Anthony of Texas; and his brothers, Don (Jean) Lewis of Vinton and Dennis Lewis of Cedar Rapids.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
