Nicholas, Ernest M.
Ernest M. Nicholas, 81, of Coralville, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013. A time for family and friends to gather will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at his and Carol's home at 5 Kelsey Ct. in Coralville, followed by a graveside service, with military honors, at 4 p.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Boys Town Alumni Association, 14057 Flanigan Blvd., Boys Town, NE 68010.

Ernest was born Sept. 25, 1931, in Osceola Mills, Pa.; he attended and graduated from Boys Town High School, Boys Town, Neb. During the Korean conflict he served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship USS Iowa BB61. Following his service years he worked at Boys Town and attended the University of Omaha. He then worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Carnation Co. and later for Eaton Pharmaceuticals, retiring in the 1980s. One of his occupations in retirement was to run Rossie's Café on South Gilbert Stree in Iowa City.
His family includes his wife, Carol Thompson of Coralville; son, Douglas John Nicholas (Susan) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Noel Nadine Nicholas of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Emma Mackenzie and Maddison Taylor; and his brother, Charles Nicholas (Willa) of Pineville, La.
