Dickens, Catherine A. Mottet
Catherine A. Mottet Dickens, 83, a lifelong resident of Iowa City, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. The family will greet friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A wake service will then begin at 5 p.m. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials to Pathways Adult Day Care or St. Mary's Church.
Catherine was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Iowa City, the daughter of Paul and Regina (Dalton) Mottet. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and attended the University of Iowa. Catherine married Willa Dickens on Aug. 19, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. In the early years of their marriage, Catherine worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank in Iowa City. She then dedicated her time and energies to raising her children.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Willa; her children, Tim Dickens of North Liberty, Terry Dickens (Jo) of Iowa City, Steve Dickens (Ginny) of Burnsville, Minn., and Janet Dickens of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Dickens and Martha (Dr. John) Bauer, both of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Charles “Buzz” Mottet and Jerry Mottet.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Pathways Adult Day Care and the MAGIC speech group for the care provided to Catherine.
