Klingman, Karon Marie
Karon Marie Klingman, 66, of Volga, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at her residence in Volga. She was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Vinton to Heinz and Marianne (Harder) Buhr. Karon graduated in 1960 from Garrison High School as Valedictorian of her class. She then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, graduating in 1963.
Karon was united in marriage to Lyle Klingman on Sept. 15, 1963, at Garrison. Two children were born to this union. Following their marriage, they farmed for fifteen years in the Garrison area; and she worked as a RN at the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. In 1979, the couple moved to Volga. Karon started working at Central Community Hospital in Elkader where she was employed as an RN until she retired in 2007. She loved nursing and gardening. Karon was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga. She also enjoyed being a part of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). Karon will be remembered as one who enjoyed sharing herself and her talents with others. Her family and friends were special to her and she loved celebrating life's important moments with them.
Survivors include her husband Lyle of Volga; her children Kent (Jennifer) Klingman of Volga, Rhonda (Craig) Fry of Yuma, Ariz.; her grandson Chad (Heather) Hannan of Marion, N.C.; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Marianne Buhr of Vinton; siblings John (Mary) Buhr of Garrison, Marlene (Mike) Grimm of Garrison and Doreen (Daryl) Forbes of Biggsville, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Heinz Buhr and sister Linda McClusky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Central Community Hospital, Elkader or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Volga.

Funeral Services:
10:30 a.m. on Thursday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga with Rev. Lin Reichstadter officiating.
Interment: Illyria Cemetery, rural Elgin.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga and one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
