He also aced all the night school classes he attended in Ames was certified as master gardener where he was honored by gardening at the infamous Reiman Gardens in Ames. Earlier in Ed's life, he and his father taught violin. He loved classical music, enjoyed “tinkering” with mechanics (especially with his sons), and electronics and traveling.
He is survived by his two sons, Kevin and Tim of Ames; one daughter, Margo (Joe) Pettit of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Beverly J. Wood; his parents, Thomas L. Wood (stepmother, Myrna), Ethel (Battin) Mikesell, (stepfather, Floyd); a sister, Bette Carver; and half brother, Kenneth May.
We especially want to thank the staff and residents, Ed's “extended family” of Hallmark Care Center, First Assembly of God Church (family), (i.e., Mary Teegarden, led Ed to the Lord!); and Mercy Hospice.
