Wood, Jean Marilyn

Jean Marilyn Wood, 72, of River Forest, Ill., died peacefully July 13, 2009, at Skokie Hospital, Skokie, Ill. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa, with the Rev. John Hays, First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, officiating.
Jean was born July 27, 1936, in Chicago, the only child of William Glenn Wood and Myrtle Bostrom Wood. She was raised and attended school in the Chicago area. She worked as a broker for many years and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of River Forest where she was a devoted usher. She was an expert seamstress and attended many sewing conventions. Jean loved good conversation and was fluent in at least five languages.
She also liked country music and attended the Mid-Night Jamboree in Nashville for many years. She modeled clothes for local clothing stores, raised dogs and had an enormous teddy bear collection. She enjoyed traveling with her traveling companion, Marcia, and the two made many trips to Iowa to visit family.
She is survived by cousins and close friends in many states.
Her parents preceded her in death.
