Brown, Barbara 'Jean'
Barbara “Jean” Brown of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Officiating will be the Rev. Harlan Gillespie. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Will Brown of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Deborah (John) Schricker of Blue Grass, and the Rev. Linda Leigh Brown of St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, Richard V. Brown of Iowa City, and Mark W. Brown of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Barbara Threlkeld of Iowa City; a sister, Betty Jo Thornton of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Andy and Jeff DeRiemacker, and Angela and Kevin Brown; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Barbara Jean (Fisher) Brown was born Jan. 21, 1932 in Beebe, Ark., the daughter of Odis and Mabel Fisher. She was united in marriage to Will Brown on May 3, 1949, in Cedar Rapids and together they raised four children. Jean had a love for fashion and a closet full of style. She owned Jean's Boutique for 19 years until 2006, which was located in downtown Cedar Rapids. Jean had three loves in life - family, friends and fashion. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
