David-Brown, Drake Bryant
Drake Bryant David-Brown, 15 of 1903 46th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Gospel Tabernacle Church by Pastor Tony Smith. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home and after noon Friday at the church.
Drake is survived by his parents, Rhonda (Chad) Klein and Trace (Lin) Brown; a brother, Devin Brown; four sisters, Mariah Higgins, Daryon Brown, Danika Klein and Matea Higgins; grandparents, Paula Wheeler, Eloise Brown, William Brown, Stephen and Debbie Klein, Denise and Bob Kearny, Carolyn and Craig Rohrick and Vince Higgins; a nephew, Dakari Brown; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ron Wheeler.
Drake was born on Jan. 15, 1996, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Trace Brown and Rhonda Klein. He was in the 10th grade at Kennedy High School.
Drake loved being on the wrestling team at Kennedy, as well as learning how to create and fix things in welding class. He admired his coach Brent Paulsen and welding instructor Barry. Drake loved spending time with his brother, sisters and cousins and enjoyed watching cartoons on television. He stayed active playing video games, skateboarding, riding his bike and was known for “swimming like a fish.” Drake was known for his big heart, being very sensitive and having an obsession with shoes.
