Nancy Ann Merrifield Brown, 69, of Independence, formerly of Troy Mills, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at her home. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Sherri Andersen. Burial will take place at Troy Mills Cemetery.
Nancy was born July 15, 1948, in Troy Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Lynn and Grace (VanMilligan) Merrifield. She graduated in 1966 from North Linn High School in Troy Mills. Nancy was employed at North Linn schools and Hunters Specialties. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Darrell (Christine) Brown of Independence, Steve Brown of Independence, Laurie Brown (Jeff McDonald) of Quasqueton, Peggy Mikesell (John Fennern) of Cedar Rapids, Tanya (Billy) McGonicle of Waterloo, Shawn (Megan) Brown of Independence, Charles (Ruth) Brown of Dubuque, Michael (Joan) Brown of Brandon and Daniel (Wendy) Brown of Winthrop; sister, Trish (Darwin) Merrifield Harmening of Bertrum; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Merrifield and Thomas Merrifield; two sisters, Sharon Bowers and Kathy Fuller; and two step-daughters, Penny Bailey and Vicky Cornwell.
