Rita Mae Banke, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Henry III of Oelwein, Wayne of Denver, Colo., and Mark (Bridget) of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Rita was born Oct. 18, 1931, in Osterdock, the daughter of Delbert and Minnie Wick Schorg. She married Henry R. Banke on March 15, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. Henry passed away in 2001.
Rita had worked at Woolworth's, Younkers and most recently at Mercy Medical Center, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed traveling, collecting cardinals, her dogs and time spent with her family and friends.
Rita was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Rita's name.
