Brown, Daniel 'Dan'
Daniel “Dan” Brown, 50, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Rita Brown of Hiawatha; special friend, Cindy Bascom of Cedar Rapids; children, Donnie Brown (Brandi) of Mechanicsville and Tiffany Brown, Jacob Brown, Melissa (Joe) Jacobus, Justin Bascom and Ryan (Erica) Bascom, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Sadie, Haven, Sky, Star, Donnie, Daetrian, Joshua, Jordan, Damien, Devon, Justin Jr., Samantha and Braxten; two brothers, Rick (Heidi) Brown and Tom (Cindy) Brown, both of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Shelley Shea (Steve) of Cedar Rapids and Julie (Matt) Meter of Ankeny; maternal grandmother, Catherine West of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Brown; and grandparents, Don F. West, Lloyd and Velda Brown.
Dan was born Dec. 6, 1960, the son of Jerry and Rita (West) Brown, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Jefferson High School and entered in the United States Marine Corps in 1979. After his discharge from the service, he returned to Cedar Rapids and worked in the construction business.
Dan loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Patrick's Church or St. Luke's Hospice in memory of Dan.
