Garrett Alex Wood, 31, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at his home in Marion. A private service for family and friends will be held in his honor at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, is assisting the family with services.
Garrett is survived by his wife, Mandi, and children, Annabelle and Graham of Marion; mother, Melissa Finley Wood (Robert Ellis) of Alburnett; sister, Cristina Wood (fiance, Matt Briskie) of Los Angeles; brother, Nicholas McClain (fiancee, Alyssa Rausch) of Central City; grandparents, Richard (Stephani) Finley of Cromwell, Iowa, and Geraldine (Roger) Zink of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; as well as many, many other family and friends.
Garrett was preceded in death by his father and paternal grandparents.
Garrett Wood, son of Melissa Finley Wood and William Ellsworth Wood, was born June 30, 1985, in Fort Bragg, N.C. He graduated in 2003 from Marion High School, where he was a noted athlete in football, wrestling, cross country and baseball. He later attended Mount Mercy College. Garrett enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and served his country as a military policeman in Iraq. He worked as a security officer at the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo. On April 23, 2011, he married Mandi Presley. To this union two children were born: Annabelle, 5, and Graham, 3.
Garrett will be remembered as a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend.
