Wood, Alice Veronica

Alice Veronica Wood, 37, of Riverside, Calif., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died of cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at the home she shared with her fiancé, Dr. David B. Cassidy. Funeral services were held in Colton, Calif.

Survivors include her fiancé, Dr. David B. Cassidy; parents, Scott and Madeline Wood of Lawrenceville, Ga.; brothers, Daniel Wood of Lawrenceville, and Peter V. Wood of Islamorada, Fla.; and sister, Catharine (Cate) M. Wood of Long Beach, Calif.

A native to Cedar Rapids, Ms. Wood graduated from Linn-Mar High School in Marion in 1990. She was active in the high school's drama, girls softball and music programs. As a fashion designer, she worked as a production manager for clothing manufacturer U.O.T.C. Barrage Ltd. of Los Angeles. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 1999 and also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1996, where she began her career in fashion design.
