Jerome E. "Jerry" Wood, 77, of Robins, passed away Sept. 12, 2014, at the Hiawatha Care Center. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, where a parish vigil service will begin at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Donna; three children, Angela Wood of Cedar Rapids, Joel (Cheryl) Wood of Cascade and Paula Wood (Jose Mejia) of Robins; six grandchildren, Adam, Jonathan, Benjamin, Nicholas, Bailey and Elena; three great-grandchildren, Ariel, Eric and Elijah; and four siblings, Don (Connie) Wood of Robins, Dick (Gina) Wood of Troy Mills, Janet (Russell) Fisher of Coggon and Mike Wood of Robins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Linda Wood.

Jerry was born Feb. 28, 1937, to LeRoy and Mary (DeMarah) Wood. He graduated from Troy Mills High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. Jerry wed Donna Eckley on June 6, 1964, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, and worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring after 36 years in 1992.

After retirement, Jerry worked part-time at The Eastern Iowa Airport as a shuttle driver. He loved being a personal tour guide, taking family and friends on rides and sightseeing. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, playing cards and telling stories. Jerry also enjoyed rediscovering family history and reminiscing about it.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Jerry's memory.
