Boesenberg, Ruby G.
Ruby G. Boesenberg, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, Marion. Pastor Bill Warhover will officiate, with burial at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; children, Mike (Marty) Boesenberg of Johnston and Mary (Steve) Doty of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Tim Boesenberg and Eric and Joel Doty; and her sister, Dorothy Williams of Vero Beach, Fla.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Julia Williams; and two brothers, Guy Williams, and her twin brother, Robert Williams.
Ruby Gayle Williams was born May 15, 1930, in Brownstown, Ill., the daughter of Guy and Julia (Pilcher) Williams. She married Clarence L. Boesenberg on Sept. 12, 1949, in Cedar Rapids. Ruby was employed with Optometric Associates of Cedar Rapids for many years, retiring as office manager in 1984. Ruby was a long time member of the Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church, currently Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. She was a people person who greatly enjoyed her family, friends, reading, and her special women's groups. She loved traveling, wintering in Florida, volunteering and serving on several church boards.
The Boesenberg Family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. James Bell and the staff of St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids, for the loving compassionate care given to Ruby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Echo Hill Presbyterian Church or St. Luke's Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
