McNamara, Russell
Russell McNamara, 52, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg. Friends may call at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, from 4 to 8 p.m. today where a parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Surviving is his mother, Lois; four children, Shirley McNanara, Wadena, Minn., Clinton and Janis McNamara, Stapels, Minn., and Amanda Green, Everett, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and five siblings, Virgil (Judy) Anamosa, Jim (Teri) Prairieburg, Pat (Kathy), Waukon, Mary (Brian) Heims and Jan (Robert) Hinz, both of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil in 2001.
Russell Edward McNamara was born March 2, 1960, at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Virgil and Lois Ellestad McNamara. Russell attended the Monticello Community Schools. He was employed by Monk Construction in Monticello right after high school. He has worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his career. Working the states of Washington and Arizona and building a golf course in Minnesota. Since his father death in 2001 he had returned to Iowa to help his mother.
He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed being with family and friends.
