Keith F. Schreiber, 78, of Marion, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at Manor Care, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service celebrating Keith's life will be 11 a.m. Satur-day, Oct. 31, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with Cedar Memorial Celebrant Jim Parton officiating. Inurnment with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, Keith (Beth) Schreiber of Arlington, Va., Kenneth (Leann) Schreiber of Bemidji, Minn., David Schreiber of Boone, Kathy (Scott) Moffitt of Lisbon, Melody Kane of Kentucky, Janell (Craig) Stratton of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Merta of Ely, James (Tracey) Merta of Cedar Rapids, John Merta of Cedar Rapids and Jason Merta of Marion; sister, Mary Cooney of Waterloo; and brother, George (Carol) Schreiber of Wainwright, Okla. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Bradley of Cedar Rapids; and several sisters- and brothers-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillian, in 1986; sister, Donna; and brothers, Paul, Bob and Richard.
Keith Franklin Schreiber was born Nov. 8, 1936, in Dysart, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Dage) Schreiber. He graduated from Orange Township High School in Waterloo in 1954 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955, serving until 1959. In May 1960, he married Lillian Steele; she died in 1986. On June 3, 1989, he married Judy Merta in Cedar Rapids.
Keith worked as an electronics technician for Rockwell Collins for 30 years until retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Eagles Club and Marion American Legion Post 298. Keith and Judy enjoyed spending their winters in Apache Junction, Ariz., and summers at the cabin on the Mississippi. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, traveling and fishing.
Memorial donations may be given in his name to Marion American Legion Post 298.
