Gina Marie Muzingo, 63,
of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2018. A private family burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Shellsburg, Iowa.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch Linwood, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Gina was born July 9,
1955, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John Hodges and Regina Blake. She graduated from Kennedy High School and went to Kirkwood Community College. Gina married Aaron Muzingo on July 24, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids in laundry services and also was head of the pet committee. Gina had a passion for animals and loved bird watching. She enjoyed gardening, music and, in her younger years, loved to play in local pool leagues.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy (Ben) Cosgrove of Cedar Rapids and Audrey Muzingo of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Madeline Cosgrove and Fauna Muzingo-Hillman; stepgranddaughter, Allegra Cosgrove; sister, Vicki DuMond of Conway, Ark.; brother, Brian Varner; and half brother, Alan Andersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aaron in 2010; and brothers, Bruce and Mark.
