Charles Raymond Young Sr., 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died from cancer on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020. Services will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Charles was born on May 16, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Kathleen (Dougherty) and Marvin Young Sr. He graduated from Washington High School. Charles was united in marriage to Jennifer Stripling on March 27, 2009, in Cedar Rapids. He was a cook for many years and also worked for the Gazette. Most recently, Charles was a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza. He enjoyed bowling and went to Nationals many times. Charles was a member of the United States Bowling Congress. He loved fishing, mushroom hunting and hiking.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Young of Cedar Rapids; children, Charles Young Jr. of Texas, Jacob Young of Marion, Iowa, Lillian "Lilly" Carter, Samuel and Carly Young, all of Cedar Rapids; brother, Marvin Young Jr. of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Laura Ogreen of Cedar Rapids and Gayle (Neal) Merrifield of Omaha, Neb.; and brother-in-law, David Arnold of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Arnold.
