Agnes Rose Hartmann, 79, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church by Father Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: Saint John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where a rosary begins at 5:30 p.m.
Agnes is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank George Hartmann Jr.; children, Kevin (Holly) Hartmann, Cedar Rapids, Caroline (John) Mockler, Dubuque, Denise (Don) Hurt, Cedar Rapids and Ken (Sheila) Hartmann, Clinton, Conn.; grandchildren, Brennen Gibson, Rachel (Brent) Hanken, Michael (Cassie) Mockler, Katherine Mockler, Brian Mockler, Emma Mockler, Sarah Mockler, Nicole Hartmann and Olivia Hartmann; and one great-grandson, Joshua Hanken.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark E. Hartmann; grandson, Jack Sullivan Hartmann; her parents, Jerry and Karolina (Setlik) Zach; and three brothers, Jerry, Joseph and Robert Zach.
Agnes was born Sept. 4, 1935, at the family farm in rural Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Frank George Hartmann Jr. on Sept. 21, 1957, at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Agnes and Frank were members of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.
At Agnes' request, a single rose representing "LIFE" will be given to her at this time by her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Coalition for Life of Iowa and Catholic Charities.
