Janice King, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Sunday, May 3, 2015. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Robert King of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Ebony (Adam) Luensman of Marion; two grandchildren, Amira and Jacoby; father, Norval (Dorothy) Dickson Sr. of Troy, Ala.; brother, Victor Porter of Cedar Rapids; family friend, Dan Berger of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and two brothers, Norval Jr. and Eric "Thumper" Dickson.
Janice was born on June 28, 1958, in Panama City Beach, Fla., the daughter of Norval and Johnnie Pearl (Hutchins) Dickson Sr. She graduated from Washington High School in 1976. On July 12, 1997, she married Robert King. Janice worked for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for over 20 years. She was a member of the 3rd Street Chicago Bears Club. Janice loved being outdoors camping and fishing with Robert. She also loved listening to live music.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
