CLASS 4A QUARTERFINALS

Iowa City West (23-0) vs. Sioux City North (14-9)

When: 1:05 p.m.

Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines

Scouting Report: West has won 29 games in a row and is seeking an unprecedented fourth straight state title. Trojans set a state record last season with their third consecutive 4A championship. North is at state for the third year in a row, finishing fourth in 4A last season ... All five West starters average 11.1 points per game or more, which is incredible balance. David DiLeo leads the way at 15.7 and also shoots 45.6 percent from 3-point range. West has played just two games this season decided by single digits, its closest a 66-63 win over Iowa City High ... North is led by 6-foot-5 senior forward Daniel Tillo, who hwas scored more than 2,000 points in his career. He averages 24.2 per game. Forward Robert Neustrom averages 15.0 points. Six of North's nine losses have been to teams from out of state.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy (18-5) vs. Pleasant Valley (21-2)

When: 6:35 p.m.

Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines

Scouting Report: Who controls tempo here will be huge. Pleasant Valley prefers a slow, methodical pace, as it has held every opponent under 51 points. Kennedy wants to push the ball up the court, shoots a lot of 3-pointers and plays a scrambly defense that forces turnovers ... Forward Brendon Manning leads the Cougars in scoring (14.8 PPG) and rebounding. Senior Zach Daniels (12.9 PPG) and Cole Murdock (9.9) have teamed with freshman Derick Diggins for a strong guard trio ... PV's leading scorer is 6-6 junior forward Will Carius (17.9 PPG). The Spartans' lone losses came in the final two regular-season games, with him out of the lineup with an injury.
