An Iowa City man faces a first-degree harassment charge after police say he threatened a man at his Iowa City home early Wednesday.
The victim told police that three men visited his home in the 2500 block of Clearwater Court at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday, looking for a person named “DP.” After the victim said “DP” did not live at his home, one of the men went to his car and returned carrying what the victim believed to be a gun, then returned to the home and yelled "If I pull the clip off this gun and shoot you in the face, then what?”
The three men fled the scene after the victim called police. They were later found in the 2600 block of Bartelt Road.
Daunta Terrell Smith, 22, of Iowa City, was charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. The two men with Smith were also arrested – Lennell Caldwell Jr., 19, of Iowa City, was charged with public intoxication, and Lawrence Leshawn Adams Jr., 21, of St. Louis, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. All three were taken to the Johnson County Jail.
The victim in the incident wasn't hurt, and police weren't able to locate a gun.
