Hansen, Carol 'C.J.' Jean

Carol “C.J.” Jean Hansen, 87, of West Union, Iowa, formerly of Elkader, Iowa, passed away after a long illness on Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union.

She was born on March 29, 1926, in Washington, Iowa, to Alfred Herman and Grace Elizabeth (Nicholson) Twinam. Her parents and brother, Dr. Claire W. Twinam, preceded Carol in death. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard L. Hansen, and two sons, Ronald L (Jeaqueline) Hansen of Doral, Fla., and Craig A. (Lien) Hansen of Tucson, Ariz. She also left five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and two nephews.

Carol graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1944. Following marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1945, she lived in various Iowa communities where her husband was an educator. She held a couple of part-time positions through the years, but her primary goal was to be loved and respected as a housewife and mother. She fully achieved her goal.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union, Iowa, with an hour visitation prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.
